Denise Rogan

Growing Up

 

Denise grew up in western Queensland on her parent's cattle and cotton station.

During this time, Denise learnt to ride from a young age with her brothers and sister, mustering cattle, attending Pony Club, campdrafting, playing polocrosse and competing at her local show in everything from novelties to dressage to showjumping.

Compared to a lot of young riders these days, Denise was a relatively late starter to the world of Dressage, given that she lived hours from nowhere and really lived in a world where fast ponies and stockhorses had ruled her world.

That was until she met Glennis Barrey at a State Pony Club Dressage clinic - who is still her coach to this day.

Denise now lives in Sydney City, has a successful Grand Prix warmblood gelding, works in a professional corporation (so she can afford the horses), has 2 cats, 2 dogs (would love a rabbit) and is lucky to have a supportive partner to back up her hectic lifestyle.

Taste of Dressage

At the age of 16 the discipline and extreme difficulty of Dressage intrigued Denise and challenged her mindset and before she knew it she was hooked.

Her eventing horse at the time (Belcam Miss Ritz) - soon became a Dressage horse and would you know it, under the careful guidance of Glennis, trained all the way through to Grand Prix.

Profession

Denise works fulltime in an Australasian company in the training and compliance department.

Alongside her corporate ambitions, Denise has also completed her Bachelor of Social Science Psychology (Hons) and continues to train her dressage horses.

 Whilst Denise has toyed with making the horse industry her profession she is like a few others who have chosen to keep her passion in dressage and her professional life separated.
